Saint Louis University Historical Scrapbooks [DOC SCR 1]
Scope and Contents
This collection is divided into three series: 1. General Scrapbooks; 2. Athletic Scrapbooks; 3. Jesuit Scrapbook. The General Scrapbooks contain material of University, local, or national Catholic significance. They also encompass clippings on sports that supplement the Athletic Scrapbooks and that even predate the coverage in the latter, which began in November of 1905. The Athletic Scrapbooks contain gaps in coverage for 1909, 1912, and 1913-1931. The Jesuit Scrapbook contains material relating to individual Jesuits and to events of interest to Jesuits. NOTE: There are two methods of searching for a particular topic in the Scrapbooks. A detailed name/subject index exists in "library card" format. This index is maintained in the reading room area of the St. Louis Room. The other method of searching for a topic is to use the "table of contents" indexes that exist for each of the scrabooks. These table of contents indexes are included with the printed finding guide for the collection that may also be found in the reading room of the St. Louis Room.

Existence and Location of Originals
Two sets of 35 mm microfilm have been made of the Historical Scrapbooks. One set contains camera negative images, the other set contains positive images for patron use. These microfilms were produced in 1990. The microphotographer was Daniel J. Antil of Pius Library, and the film production was done by Precision Microfilm of St. Louis.
Normally, patrons will be given the positive microfilm copy of the scrapbook for their use (MIC MRL 1).
