  • Abstract

This collection was donated to the Saint Louis University Archives by Susan Bloomfield, Royal J. Bondie's daughter. Most of the material consists of lecture notes for classes Bondie taught during his 30 years at Parks College. Subject files containing clippings, pamphlets, and magazines were discarded, as were large binders of Xeroxed materials for classes that Bondie himself apparently took as refresher courses. The collection is organized into 7 series:  1. Correspondence; 2. Curriculum Vitae; 3. Ephemera; 4. Lecture Notes; 5. Legal Cases; 6. Notes; 7. Papers and Reports.

  • Scope and Contents

The Royal J. Bondie Jr. Manuscript Collection reflects the dedication of a lifelong teacher and researcher who helped to make Parks College well known in the fields of engineering, aeronautics, and aerospace technology. The Lecture Notes Series, which comprises the bulk of the material, contains notes, problems, and examinations for many of the classes Bondie taught during his 30 years at Parks. The Correspondence series provides letters of recommendation for students as well as evidence of Bondie's work on truck aerodynamics.

The Legal Cases series consists of correspondence, reports, working calculations, and depositions related to Bondie's consulting work on automobile and airplane crashes. The Papers and Reports series contains scholarly work by Bondie as well as by other Parks faculty members and Parks students.
